But It Stays 03:40
It's getting all out of phase What is that stuff in the way? It never moves, but it stays And that's strange And if the future's started, don't you think we should be told? We've been waiting for tomorrow, since a long long time ago And we cannot wait forever for forever to unfold It's such a shame to keep us waiting, don't you know? We're feeling fruity for change We're not at home on the range The notions we entertain Come round again and again ... And if the future's started, don't you think we should be told? We've been waiting for tomorrow, since a long long time ago And we cannot wait forever for forever to unfold It's such a shame to keep us waiting. Still waiting ... And we remember photographs of rocket cars And we're longing to be shot towards the vacant stars But we're not prepared to sing a different tune Everybody wants the future soon ... And it can't come soon enough

I don't want to itch in my hair shirt I don't want to move in a line I don't want to angst, with the rest of the cranks But I can't find the funny side - oh no I can't sing round corners, but I've never felt so sure That all the things that bother me, are not at home next door For this is my life And I will swap it if I like This is my life And forever and ever, seems ever such a long long ... Maybe I'm part of the scenery Or maybe I'm out to lunch But baby knows she can rely on me Or maybe that's back to front, that could be back to front So don't call me and I won't call you But please don't worry 'cause everything's cool Twinkle twinkle little car At one hundred thousand miles per hour This is my life And I will swap it if I like This is my life And forever and ever seems ever such a long long ... Time It must be time for a change

He used drive the lonely road All Kerouac and back And to and fro So where did all of the romance go? He don't know But it isn't any fun anymore No it isn't any fun anymore What a bore The people in their diggers They cannot control their sniggers As the road keeps getting bigger and bigger And it isn't any fun anymore No it isn't any fun anymore What a bore
4.
We've been watching the late show And it's getting later all the time And we've been wishing we were miles away from here But everywhere seems so near And we've got to admit that we are bored With feeling so alone and so ignored Are we caught in a permanent pause? Yes, I think that it's time that we tried to make good some escape ... Let's build a rocket in the garden And let's get the Dickens out of here Lets build a rocket in the garden Can anybody be a pioneer? We've got nothing but more time kill And we seem to spend most of it feeling so ill Oh, we'd love to be chasing a thrill But there's few to be found when you're stuck high on top Muswell Hill ... Let's build a rocket in the garden And lets get the Dickens out of here Let's build a rocket in the garden Can anybody be a pioneer? And if the sky is big enough To make some room for our tiny craft Then we may as well You never know It might just be a laugh ... Lets build a rocket in the garden And lets get the Dickens out of here Lets build a rocket in the garden Can anybody be a pioneer? Let's, let's - let's, let's - let's get going Let's, let's - let's, let's - let's get going Let's, let's - let's, let's - let's get going Let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, take it away ...

This machine It has been Letting me go outside again Don't stop Which way is the wrong way up? This is the Sun And this is the Moon And you made then both Here in this room This machine It has been Kicking tin cans down rusty dreams I think it's time we oiled you up This is the Sun And this is the Moon And you made then both Here in this room I think it's time To find The operating instructions I think it's time To find The operating instructions ... It's time

Volcanoes 04:25
Wouldn't it be nice To be standing Close together In some foreign place Where we could take An epic snapshot On your brother's Stolen camera For as you and I and everybody knows There is more to life than visiting the Albert Hall And as you and I and everybody knows Making progress can be dangerous when searching for ... There is life Life on Earth But there isn't In our neighbourhood And so we'd better Go take ourselves To where the fire Burns forever For as you and I and everybody knows There is more to life than visiting the Albert Hall And as you and I and everybody knows Making progress can be dangerous when searching for ... Volcanoes Jump the sleeper To wherever We are nearer To the flow And make up stories For the readers Of the National Geographical All about Volcanoes

Raise a glass and drop the book Go outside and take a look Take the chance, you never know You just might like it Because everything's a mess Not step by step It isn't enough to Float bottles of dust and I'm not in the mood for Why isn't post modern life all it's cracked up to be? Save me, save me You say that it's warm tonight Don't tell me what that is in Fahrenheit That won't set the Moon alight It isn't enough to Float bottles of dust and I'm not in the mood for Why isn't post modern life all it's cracked up to be? Save me, save me Save me, save me

Don't adjust your TV set, get the picture You're inclined to blank your mind to the future And it is not as though your head is full Of many bright ideas and oh so beautiful Designs for life Designs for life So please don't switch me off I wish you wouldn't switch me off Because every time you switch me off I want to be switched on again, to resume normal programs You pretend that everything counts for nothing But I have seen between the weave in your bluffing There is no need to walk around the block If only then to report, that you just haven't got any Designs for life Designs for life So please don't switch me off I wish you wouldn't switch me off Because every time you switch me off I want to be switched on again, to resume normal programs Do not think yourself alone, I've hidden the remote control Do not think yourself alone, I've hidden the remote control Do not think yourself alone, I've hidden the remote control Do not think yourself alone, I've hidden the remote control Click
9.
Up on the roof of the dream house You put a warning sign "You'd better keep your distance I've got a lot on my mind" Now nobody said you were perfect We know that you've got your faults But it's only because you're allergic That we can get near you at all And please, believe Me when I say I think, that you are Truly amazing Don't wake up You say you talk to the angels You say they seem polite Now I've never talked to the angels But I never know I might We could sit up together Just spinning around and around No it probably wouldn't be clever And we'd probably never be found Found And please, believe Me when I say I think, that you are Truly amazing Don't wake up Let's make the best of a bad lot And let's make a start before we both stop Dreaming

You're so cruel And you're so small And you don't care You're so cruel so ... Who put the rain on the window again, Tell me who put the rain? Who stole the leg, from the man that was lame? Tell me, who's in the frame? You're so blank And you're so dank And you'd drown me In your fish tank You're so blank so ... Who put the rain on the window again, Tell me who put the rain? Who stole the leg, from the man that was lame? Tell me, who's in the frame? You're so spent Like wet cement I don't want you Inside my tent / tent! You're so spent so ... Who put the rain on the window again, Tell me who put the rain? Who stole the leg, from the man that was lame? Tell me, who's in the frame? Well I think it could be you

She tries but can't get through He's right outside He's in her corridor He's erudite He knows he's horrible - hello Well you can wait Wait and wait Woolf "Babe" Banarto He's OK He's right outside He's in her corridor He's erudite He knows he's horrible - hello Many hours gone And many more to come Many hours gone And many more to Come

Bump around, in the dark Heaven knows if this is art? But maybe if We can find the right switch ... And it's got to be in here someplace Oh if only we could find a clue And it's got to be in here someplace But there's so many buttons to choose And it could go like this And it could go like that And it could be the front Or it could be the back But whatever it is We are going to try To keep tomorrow peachy Don't get cross Down the front Disappointment comes to everyone So you may as well dance And it's got to be in here someplace Oh if only we could find a clue And it's got to be in here someplace But there's so many buttons to choose And it could go like this And it could go like that And it could be the front Or it could be the back But whatever it is We are going to try To keep tomorrow peachy Bump around in the dark The dark We all Bump around in the dark The dark Bump! Bump!

This is the waking up This is the long lie in This is the best of luck And the rest of the morning spins On needles and pins This is the cheap red wine This is the crazy pave This is the soft she shine at the base of the seventh wave It could be one of those days And a river flows between my toes And it seems to me this very nearly goes to show That in life, things are very rarely right If we could only remember the last lines ...? This is the fizzy pop This is the jumping Jack This is the nearest stop to the top of the mad man's hat Hands up who know about that? This is the changing shape This is the jet wash This is the right mistake to make at the lowest cost There could be nothing lost ... And a river flows between my toes And it seems to me this very nearly goes to show That in life, things are very rarely right If we could only remember the last lines ...? Is it normal that we want our freedom? And is it normal to play punk for Sweden? That's something to believe in Something to believe in

Are we girls or are we boys? Wrapped up in leather wrapped up in noise All we need is something else All we need is something else Beauty things with tired eyes Us and them - like cosmonauts, collide And then, collide again Collide, and then, collide again They collide Where is the fascination? It's in the beat box of a passing car Motor lights like tracer fire Say goodnight or take me higher Turning off and on again Turning off and on again Under the shelter of a dizzy rain Dizzy contestants in a dizzying game They switch, cut and paste From lane to lane Where is the fascination? It's in the beat box of a passing car At all night shops and petrol stations Where other people don't know who we are
15.
So whatever happened to Putting people on the Moon? Such a lonely thing to do I wonder if they'd still send you? We haven't got a moment to loose Somewhere else is calling you Hurry up your fastest shoes Adventure is your avenue Not so very long ago The ocean was the place to go Down with the fishes, down way below That's just the ticket for your show Would you like to live underground? Would you like to live underground? Would you like to live underground? Would you like to live WAY underground? We haven't got a moment to loose Somewhere else is calling you Hurry up your fastest shoes Adventure is your avenue We're only telling you Because we don't like to see you make mistakes And you just won't listen when you're awake Will you?

Frozen Milk 01:55
An ashen kiss to make you spit This really is the end of it Frozen milk and a frozen heart And a ten AM appointment start And you've had enough for one day On special offer, cheaper talk You've almost lost the will to walk Those shaky TV shows that rain Can't penetrate you perfect pain And you've had enough for one day Hey, it's another, very nearly, ordinary day It's another ordinary day And you've had enough for one day, Haven't you?

about

Fly To Work

Songs about the stuff of life, wanderlust and escaping the hinterlands teenage wildlife. Curtains' debut album layers guitars with electronica and fieldtrack, to generate their own hybrid "anything goes" art pop.

Often surprising and always distinct. Fly To Work's "ambient-punk" style stems loosely from the brief pre-Britpop flurry of experimentally minded non-retro groups, such as Disco Inferno or Ultra Vivid Scene, who occupied one end of a thread leading back to Talking Heads, XTC, Wire and Roxy Music beyond. However ultimately the album was designed to sound exactly like itself and not like anyone else.

Originally recorded for CD release in 2000, this is the first time it's been available as a download.

"Let's build a rocket in the garden,
can anybody be a pioneer?"

about

Curtains England, UK

Stemming from the brief pre-Britpop flurry of experimentally minded 'non-retro' indie groups. Curtains employed direct pop impetus layered with electronic textures. A hybrid artpop, or "ambient-punk" that related as much to the krautrock family tree, as it did to post punk, electro and techno.

Songs could be any (or all) of the following. Intimate, fizzy, lush, kooky, or full-on walls of sound!
